After years of neglect and deterioration, Vo Thi Sau Park (Bach Mai Ward, Hanoi) is now undergoing rapid renovation and landscaping, entering the final stages of its transformation project.
Spanning over 26 hectares, Vo Thi Sau Park, formerly known as the Capital Youth Park, suffered from years of mismanagement and inefficiency, leading to severe degradation, damaged facilities, and an unkempt landscape. This not only wasted valuable public land but also disrupted the lives of residents in the surrounding area.
To address these issues, a VND 35 billion renovation project has been launched, funded through a public-private partnership. The project aims to create a modern, integrated cultural and green space that meets community needs while honoring historical traditions.
The park is divided into three main areas: the Vo Thi Sau Memorial House (over 3,000 m²), the gazebo and green park area (over 8,000 m²), and the temple and Vong Canh Pavilion (approximately 1,000 m²). The centerpiece is the memorial house dedicated to Vo Thi Sau, a People’s Armed Forces Hero, serving as a space for remembrance, exhibition, and revolutionary tradition education.
The Vo Thi Sau Memorial House has completed its construction phase, featuring a solemn and clean space with a stone pedestal for the statue. Even before its official inauguration, many residents have voluntarily brought flowers and incense to honor the heroine, demonstrating their respect for the site’s historical significance.
Most project components are nearing completion, with workers operating in shifts day and night to expedite progress. Remaining tasks, such as landscaping, equipment installation, and memorial area enhancements, are being accelerated.
Increasingly, residents are flocking to the park for recreation and exercise, excited by its new look. The park’s pathways have been uniformly paved, enhancing accessibility for visitors.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoanh, a Bach Mai Ward resident, shared that he and his friends have been visiting Vo Thi Sau Park for over 20 years. “Previously, the park was in disarray, with vendors and parking lots occupying much of the space, leaving little room for exercise. The renovation has fulfilled our long-held wish, transforming the park in just two months,” he said.
