As of the closing trading session last night and early this morning, December 31st (Vietnam time), the price of Robusta coffee on the London exchange rose by 1.05%-1.57%, while Arabica prices on the New York exchange saw a slight decline of less than 0.5%.

For the January 2026 spot contract, Robusta prices surged by $73 per ton, reaching $4,092 per ton. Similarly, the March 2026 contract saw a $61 per ton increase, settling at $3,945 per ton.

Over the past five consecutive trading sessions, Robusta prices have consistently risen, with the March 2026 reference contract climbing by a total of $288 per ton.

In contrast, Arabica prices for the March 2026 contract dipped by $40 per ton, closing at $7,720 per ton, equivalent to 201,100 VND per kilogram.

Daily coffee price fluctuations

Today’s coffee prices are expected to rebound strongly from 97,400 VND per kilogram but have yet to reach the 100,000 VND per kilogram mark.

The recent surge in Robusta prices is attributed to reports of flooding in Indonesia, a country that cultivates nearly 90% of the world’s Robusta coffee.

Flooding has caused significant damage to storage facilities, infrastructure, and local livelihoods. In key Arabica-producing regions, particularly Sumatra and Aceh, coffee logistics are anticipated to face substantial disruptions due to flooding and landslides, potentially delaying deliveries in the coming months.

Additionally, compared to Arabica, the relatively lower price of Robusta has made it a more attractive option for buyers.
