For over 10 days, EVNSPC has been tirelessly working, especially during the 2026 New Year holiday, with no breaks for the entire project. Engineers and workers have been tirelessly working through the holiday to ensure the project’s timeline is met, culminating in a successful completion during the peak period welcoming the new year of Bính Ngọ.
The 110kV Trần Đề – 220kV Sóc Trăng Transmission Line project, invested by EVNSPC, has an initial total investment of over 127 billion VND. The project scope includes the construction of a new single-circuit 110kV transmission line over 32 km long, the expansion of bays 112 and 172 at the Trần Đề 110kV Substation, and the installation of a synchronized protection, control, and measurement system.

The project commenced on December 28, 2024, with the transmission line running through Sóc Trăng City and the districts of Mỹ Xuyên and Trần Đề in Sóc Trăng Province. The starting point is at the Sóc Trăng 220kV Substation, and the endpoint is at the Trần Đề 110kV Substation. Previously, on April 19, 2025, the project completed and energized Phase 1 of the bay section at the Trần Đề 110kV Substation.
Once operational, the project will form a 110kV ring circuit connecting the Trần Đề, Đại Ngãi, and Cù Lao Dung substations from the Sóc Trăng 220kV Substation. This will enhance operational safety and reliability in power supply to the region. Additionally, the project will increase flexibility in managing the operation of 110kV substations, preparing for the transmission of renewable energy sources in the future, and gradually realizing the goal of developing a smart grid.
Nighttime construction
The project’s rapid success is the result of EVNSPC’s timely decision-making. Upon recognizing that the contractor’s progress might fall short, EVNSPC immediately mobilized forces from the Investment Management Board and rapid response teams from the Cần Thơ City, Đồng Tháp, and An Giang Power Companies. These individuals, with extensive experience from the 2023 Quảng Trạch – Phố Nối 500kV Line 3 project, possess strong expertise, high discipline, and are ready to handle large workloads during the final stretch to ensure project quality, safety, and timely completion.
Throughout the final sprint, with close supervision day and night, EVNSPC’s leadership was consistently present at the site to encourage, inspect, and direct the construction teams alongside the contractor. EVNSPC Chairman Lê Văn Trang, Vice General Director Bùi Quốc Hoan, and the Cần Thơ City Power Company’s management team visited and encouraged over 80 workers and nearly 100 rapid response team members across the entire line. Though modest, these gifts provided valuable moral support, boosting confidence and determination among the workers.

Additionally, the EVNSPC Trade Union was on-site to host the Commitment Signing Ceremony for Emulation and Rewards, launching the final push to ensure timely, high-quality, and safe completion. This was not merely a formal ceremony but a pledge of honor on the construction site, demonstrating the genuine partnership between the Trade Union and technical teams during this critical phase of the key project.
By nearly 20:00 on January 5, the project was successfully energized, completing as planned. This marks a significant milestone, showcasing EVNSPC’s decisive leadership, flexible organization, and disciplined execution. It also highlights the effective collaboration and unity among units both within and outside the industry.
The completion and operation of this project not only ensure energy security and enhance power supply reliability but also effectively support the socio-economic development of Cần Thơ City and the Mekong Delta region in the future.
