Recently, a report aired on VTV1’s “Vietnam Today” revealed that Hai Phong police uncovered a syndicate purchasing pork infected with African swine fever, which was then processed into canned food. The syndicate collected over 120 tons of contaminated meat, storing it in the warehouse of Halong Canfoco Joint Stock Company. Approximately 2 tons of this meat had already been processed into canned products. Authorities have gathered evidence and destroyed the 120 tons of infected meat, while further investigations are underway to address the issue.

Social media users have expressed disappointment in the long-standing brand, whose products were widely available in supermarkets and stores. The company’s negligence has led to a loss of consumer trust.
Outraged comments from the online community include:
– “I recently bought Halong Canfoco canned meat from the supermarket, planning to cook it later. After seeing the news about the African swine fever-infected pork, I’m shocked. How could a well-known brand compromise consumer health like this? I fed this to my family…”
– “I tried their Lighthouse Pate after seeing it promoted, but it wasn’t to my taste. Now, I’m both worried and angry. A long-established company producing substandard goods—it’s unacceptable.”
– “While Halong Canfoco produces Lighthouse Pate, the name is also used by other businesses in Hai Phong as a local specialty. This scandal will likely affect them too. It’s a complete loss of trust.”
