According to the Department of Construction, the Waterway Management Center reported that there are currently 108 construction projects, land reclamation activities, and violations of riverbank protection corridors along rivers, canals, and streams in the city.

The Department of Construction requests that the People’s Committees of wards and communes direct competent forces to intensify inspections and strictly penalize cases of unauthorized or illegal construction within the protected riverbank corridors.

Additionally, local authorities are encouraged to actively engage with residents and businesses to dismantle or enforce the dismantling (compulsory removal) of unauthorized or illegal encroaching structures.

These efforts aim to safeguard the lives and property of residents living along rivers, canals, and streams, while ensuring the safety and order of waterway traffic.

Furthermore, the Department of Construction has tasked the Waterway Management Center with collaborating with relevant ward and commune People’s Committees to detect, inspect, and address violations related to the encroachment of rivers, canals, and streams serving as waterway transportation routes.
