Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of the Statistics Department at the Ministry of Finance, emphasized that the 2026 Economic Census aims to collect comprehensive, objective, and modern data on the operational status of economic entities nationwide. This includes businesses, public service units, associations, religious organizations, and individual business households.
This initiative is being implemented as the country accelerates its digital transformation, innovates growth models, and enhances the competitiveness of the economy. The demand for high-quality data by sector, region, and ownership type is increasingly vital, directly supporting the government, ministries, and local authorities in formulating socio-economic development policies.

A key innovation in this year’s census is the enhanced use of technology in data collection, leveraging administrative data, and concurrently deploying electronic survey forms via CAPI and Webform. These efforts aim to improve survey management efficiency, moving towards a modern, transparent, and integrated statistical system.
Mr. Le Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, highlighted that for the city, this is not merely a statistical task but a critical political mission. It provides a comprehensive and objective view of the economic structure, production scale, competitiveness, digital transformation progress, and distribution of economic entities within the city.
