Peugeot Motorcycles has made a splash in the Chinese market with the official launch of two new versions of its fourth-generation Django scooter line: the Django Classic Gentle and Django Caferacer. Priced at 16,800 and 17,800 Chinese yuan respectively (approximately $2,300–$2,450), these models reinforce the French brand’s ambition in the retro-style scooter segment.
The 2026 Peugeot Django stays true to its classic European design language. The iconic lion logo is prominently displayed on the front shield, paired with LED daytime running lights and a waterfall-style grille, blending vintage charm with modern aesthetics. The front fender, inspired by biomimicry of a lion’s motif, adds a distinct three-dimensional effect, meticulously crafted for a refined finish.
The Classic Gentle variant captivates with its multi-tone White Star – Grey Mist – Carbon Black color scheme, drawing inspiration from nature. The design exudes elegance, reminiscent of European autumn landscapes. Warm brown accents and matte finishes lend a sophisticated, timeless appeal, catering to aficionados of classic artistry and business professionals.
In contrast, the Caferacer variant exudes boldness with its Crimson Streamer matte red finish, evoking the image of a comet. This color choice underscores a spirit of freedom and retro sportiness, targeting urban riders who value individuality and distinctiveness.
Structurally, the 2026 Django features a steel frame, dry weight of 146 kg, and a 780 mm seat height. The Classic Gentle offers a split dual seat with diamond-pattern stitching for enhanced comfort, while the Caferacer sports a single sporty seat with a raised tail section showcasing a precision-etched Peugeot logo. An optional rear seat is available for the Caferacer.
Storage is practical, with under-seat space accommodating a 3/4 helmet. The flat footboard enhances versatility for carrying cargo. The 8.5-liter fuel tank provides a combined range of approximately 300 km, ideal for daily commuting.
Despite its classic appearance, the Django 2026 is equipped with modern technology. Features include a sharp TFT digital display, Smartkey keyless system, keyless start, and Michelin City Grip tires. The suspension system—telescopic forks upfront and adjustable side-mounted rear shocks—prioritizes comfort while ensuring stability during cornering and braking. Dual-channel ABS enhances safety.
Powered by a 149.6cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve Easymotion engine, the Django delivers 14.4 hp and 13.8 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, paired with a CVT transmission. Fuel efficiency is rated at 2.7 L/100 km, offering greater power than the Honda SH Mode and comparable performance to the Air Blade 160.
Rather than competing on performance, the Peugeot Django 2026 focuses on design and identity. With its “elegant classic” and “retro sporty” styles, this scooter appeals to those who view scooters as both transportation and an expression of personal aesthetic and individuality.
