The General Statistics Office has released the Socio-Economic Report for Q4 and the year 2025.
The report highlights that in December, nearly 17,200 new businesses were established nationwide, marking a 13.9% increase from November and a 71.6% surge compared to the same period last year. The number of businesses exiting the market reached 227,200, a 14.8% increase from 2024, averaging 18,900 monthly exits. The total registered capital added to the economy in 2025 was nearly 6,400 trillion VND, a 77.8% increase from 2024.
The General Statistics Office also assessed business production and operations in Q4/2025 compared to Q3/2025. Approximately 75.8% of businesses reported stable or improved operations (25.4% improved, 50.4% stable), while 24.2% faced difficulties.
Compared to Q3/2025, the percentage of businesses reporting improved conditions increased by 1.1%, stable conditions decreased by 0.2%, and difficult conditions decreased by 0.9%.
The report also indicates that Q4/2025 GDP grew by 8.46% year-on-year, the highest Q4 growth rate from 2011-2025, maintaining a trend of sequential quarterly increases.
For 2025, GDP growth was robust at 8.02%, second only to 2022’s growth rate from 2011-2025. Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries grew by 3.78%, contributing 5.30%; industry and construction by 8.95%, contributing 43.62%; and services by 8.62%, contributing 51.08%.
The 2025 economic structure was as follows: agriculture, forestry, and fisheries at 11.64%; industry and construction at 37.65%; services at 42.75%; and product taxes minus subsidies at 7.96%.
The 2025 GDP at current prices was approximately 12,847.6 trillion VND (514 billion USD), a 38 billion USD increase from 2024. Per capita GDP in 2025 was 125.5 million VND (5,026 USD), a 326 USD increase from 2024 (4,700 USD).
Labor productivity in 2025 was 245.0 million VND per worker (9,809 USD), a 626 USD increase from 2024. In comparable prices, productivity rose by 6.83% due to improved worker skills (29.2% trained workers, up 0.8%), strong economic growth, and expanded economic scale.
