In mid-December 2025, a convenience store owner in Ngu Hanh Son Ward reported an incident where a suspect used a counterfeit 100 USD bill for payment. The Investigation Security Agency, in collaboration with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, swiftly identified the perpetrators as Vo Quoc Hoa (born 1991) and Le Xuan Cuong (born 1991), both residents of Da Nang City.

Investigations revealed that due to drug addiction, Le Xuan Cuong purchased 100 counterfeit 100 USD bills. He then conspired with Vo Quoc Hoa to circulate these bills at small stores during early morning hours to avoid detection.

Between December 14th and 17th, the suspects successfully circulated counterfeit money four times in Ngu Hanh Son Ward, profiting approximately 8.5 million VND. This money was used to purchase drugs.

The suspects were apprehended by the police.

On December 23rd, the Investigation Security Agency, in coordination with relevant units, arrested the two suspects and searched their residences, seizing 63 counterfeit 100 USD bills.

The Investigation Security Agency has initiated legal proceedings against Le Xuan Cuong and Vo Quoc Hoa for “Counterfeit Money Possession and Circulation,” and further investigations are ongoing.

During surveillance from December 18th to 23rd, police detected drug-related activities among the suspects involved in the counterfeit money circulation.

A search of Vo Quoc Hoa’s residence yielded a packet of white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, a digital scale, and drug paraphernalia.

During interrogation, Vo Quoc Hoa confessed to using drugs with Nguyen Ngoc Huy (born 2000, residing in Da Nang) at his home on December 22nd.

Nguyen Ngoc Huy admitted to drug use when questioned by the police. Urine tests confirmed that all three suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.
