HALOVA Company Director and Wife Produce Thousands of Counterfeit Perfume Bottles

On January 9th, the Can Tho City Police Department announced that the Division of Corruption, Economic, Smuggling, and Environmental Crime Investigation, in collaboration with relevant units, successfully dismantled a large-scale counterfeit perfume production ring.

Previously, on January 6th, authorities conducted an emergency search at three locations in Phuong Quoi A hamlet, Thanh An commune. These sites were used for the production and sale of counterfeit perfumes bearing renowned global brands, operated by L.V.H (born in 1973) and his wife, V.T.T (born in 1985).

At the scene, authorities seized over 1,200 bottles and boxes of counterfeit perfume from various famous brands; more than 130 liters of pre-mixed perfume; 646 kg of packaging boxes; over 12,400 bottle casings; more than 18,000 labels, and 4 specialized perfume production machines.

The couple, H. and T., confessed that in 2018, H. established HALOVA LLC, with H. as the director, specializing in the production and trade of perfumes under multiple brands. By 2020, the couple began manufacturing counterfeit perfumes.

All the counterfeit perfumes bearing famous global brands were sourced by H. and T., who purchased bottle casings, packaging boxes, bottle caps, labels, and fragrance chemicals from Kim Bien Market in Ho Chi Minh City and through social media. The couple rented a house in Ho Chi Minh City to directly produce and sell counterfeit perfumes alongside the genuine products manufactured by HALOVA LLC, aiming for illicit profits.

To evade detection by authorities, H. and T. transported all the evidence to three locations at H.’s and relatives’ homes in Phuong Quoi A hamlet to continue distributing the counterfeit perfumes. They also installed machinery and equipment to further produce counterfeit perfumes.
