On the evening of January 7th, Nestlé Vietnam’s official website published information regarding the precautionary recall of infant formula products in Europe.

Nestlé Vietnam confirmed that they have not imported any of the recalled batches into the Vietnamese market, as listed in the announcements from European countries.

Additionally, Nestlé Vietnam has not registered or self-declared products for the BEBA and Alfamino brands and does not distribute these products through any channels in Vietnam, including direct distribution, partner distribution, e-commerce, or other forms of distribution.

“We consistently ensure the quality and safety of our products with the highest responsibility and are committed to providing full and transparent information to consumers,” stated the press release.

Following Nestlé’s announcement of a precautionary recall of certain batches of BEBA and Alfamino infant formula in Germany due to potential Cereulid contamination, which can be harmful to infants, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) issued a request for a report from Nestlé Vietnam on January 6th.

Simultaneously, the department also sent a document to the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and relevant agencies to handle the matter according to the recall procedure.

Authorities advise consumers, especially parents, to follow official information from the Ministry of Health, avoid using products under warning or recall, and promptly report any suspected unsafe products to the relevant authorities.

The Food Safety Department assures that it will closely monitor the situation and collaborate with related agencies to protect consumer rights and health.

Vietnam is not included in the list of markets affected by the recall as announced by Nestlé.

However, the possibility of products being imported through unofficial channels or as personal luggage cannot be ruled out.

It has been observed that some e-commerce platforms are selling these products under the label “German domestic goods.”
