iPhone Air Price Plummets in Vietnam

Once hailed as the "fresh breeze" in the market, the iPhone Air is now facing significant price cuts to boost sales.

Apple’s latest release, the iPhone Air, is struggling to meet sales expectations. This is evident from the significant price drops over the past few months, while other models like the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro Max have seen minimal reductions of around $20.

Currently, several retailers have slashed the price of the 256 GB iPhone Air to approximately $1,100, a $230 reduction from its original price. Online shoppers can find even deeper discounts on Apple’s official Shopee store, where the device is available for just $990 after applying promotional codes. This represents an astonishing $350 discount for a phone launched just three months ago.

“Despite the aggressive price cuts, the iPhone Air’s appeal remains weak compared to the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro Max,” noted a representative from a major retail chain. According to the source, the iPhone Air accounts for less than 5% of total iPhone sales, lagging far behind not only the latest models but also older versions like the iPhone 16 and 15.

The iPhone Air is now priced at just over $1,000 on e-commerce platforms.

Industry experts argue that the iPhone Air’s price cuts were inevitable. At launch, its price tag exceeded $1,300, positioning it as one of the most expensive options on the market despite lacking standout features in terms of specifications.

While the current price is more palatable, it still competes directly with the iPhone 17, which starts at $1,050. Potential drawbacks such as a smaller battery and a single-lens camera may deter buyers considering the iPhone Air over the iPhone 17. Additionally, the iPhone Air’s sleek, lightweight design—though stylish—may not be a priority for the average consumer.

The iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch display, a 48 MP single-lens camera, and the A19 Pro chip with 256 GB of storage. It stands out with its durable titanium frame, measuring just 5.6 mm thick and weighing 156 grams. The battery offers 3,149 mAh, providing up to 27 hours of video playback.

Positioned as a successor to the discontinued Plus model, the iPhone Air was expected to boost sales within Apple’s lineup. However, finding a winning formula for this fourth iPhone variant has proven challenging. Apple has previously struggled with the Mini and Plus versions, and the iPhone Air appears to be facing similar hurdles.
