On January 10th, the official Facebook page of The Coffee House, a popular tea and coffee chain, unexpectedly released a statement clarifying certain details regarding their ingredient sourcing related to Ha Long Canned Food JSC, which has been a topic of public concern.

The Coffee House confirmed that their Lamp Post Pate Baguette does not contain any pate or meat products from Ha Long Canned Food JSC, nor is it associated with the company in any production or supply stage.

“Regarding Fujian Lotus Lychee Tea and Lychee Americano, as they contain an ingredient sourced from the aforementioned supplier, The Coffee House has proactively suspended these items to transition to alternative suppliers that meet all safety and quality standards,” the statement read.

The Coffee House stated that this decision was made to ensure customer peace of mind, “even though it may cause some short-term inconvenience.”

As of January 10th, a check on The Coffee House’s website revealed that Fujian Lotus Lychee Tea and Lychee Americano were no longer listed, while other lotus-based drinks like Oolong Four Seasons Lotus remained available.

The announcement received widespread praise from the online community for its transparency with customers.

Previously, when netizens discovered that Ha Long Canned Food JSC’s 2025 semi-annual financial report listed Highlands Coffee (owned by Highlands Coffee Service Trading JSC) as a customer with an outstanding debt of over 3 billion VND, the coffee chain also clarified that they do not purchase or use any processed pork products from Ha Long Canned Food JSC in any of their offerings across their nationwide store network.

Highlands Coffee has also stopped serving products containing non-meat ingredients supplied by Ha Long Canned Food JSC.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and will await the official conclusions from relevant state authorities.

In the coming days, after completing the transition to alternative suppliers that meet strict food safety and quality standards, Highlands Coffee plans to reintroduce these products,” the press release stated.

However, the brand did not specify which products were sourced from Ha Long Canned Food JSC.

Ha Long Canned Food JSC offers more than just meat and fish products

According to F&B expert Do Duy Thanh, during sensitive periods like the “Ha Long Canned Food” incident, food and beverage chains must establish the right management mindset. In potential crises, prioritizing customer trust over short-term revenue is essential. Early and decisive action is always cheaper than dealing with late consequences.

Ha Long Canned Food JSC is a long-established company in the processed food industry with an extensive product range.

In addition to meat and fish products, their fruit and agricultural product lines are also well-known, featuring three main categories: lotus seeds in syrup, lychees in syrup, and fresh peaches in syrup.
