The T1 and T2 road projects are pivotal transportation infrastructures, connecting Long Thanh International Airport with National Highway 51, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, and the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway.

Construction began in July 2023, with a projected timeline of 885 days and a total investment exceeding 2.63 trillion VND.

According to VTC News, the most notable feature of the project is the interchange between T2 and the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway. This complex, multi-level interchange is designed to simultaneously connect multiple critical transportation axes.

This interchange not only links T2 with the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway but also directly connects with the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway below, forming a comprehensive transportation hub.

Once operational, this network will serve as the primary gateway for vehicles traveling from Ho Chi Minh City, Nhon Trach Industrial Park, Dong Nai, and central and northern provinces to Long Thanh Airport. The expressway ramps have been paved with asphalt concrete, and safety features such as guardrails, signage, and lighting are complete, awaiting road markings.

The T2 route spans approximately 3.5 km, directly linking the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway with Long Thanh Airport, running parallel to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway. Designed with four lanes, it meets expressway standards and has a design speed of 100 km/h.

Approximately 4 km away, the T1-T2 interchange has also completed its main components. The ramps connecting T2 to the airport have been paved with asphalt and equipped with all necessary traffic safety features.

On the T1 route, the overpass leading directly to Long Thanh Airport has recently been completed and put into service.

Most of the route has been paved with asphalt, awaiting road markings, while landscaping and green spaces continue to be enhanced.

The ramps facilitating U-turns to National Highway 51 and access to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway are currently being prepared with a crushed stone base, in anticipation of asphalt paving.

The interchange between T1 and T2 is considered the “heart” of the entire project. It not only directly connects the two new routes but also manages traffic flow along the North-South (T1) and East-West (T2) axes. With its multi-level design and separated lanes, this interchange is expected to ensure continuous traffic flow and minimize congestion risks once Long Thanh Airport becomes operational.

Once fully completed, the system of two routes and key interchanges will create a seamless transportation corridor, facilitating easy travel for passengers from Long Thanh Airport to Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas. It will also foster urban and logistics development along the T1-T2 axis in the future.
