Vietnam’s Largest $16 Billion Mega-Project Set to Complete Key Components by June

The Minister of Construction has mandated that every component of the Long Thanh Airport must meet the highest standards in quality, technical precision, and aesthetic excellence.

On January 10th, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh, alongside a working delegation, inspected the construction progress of the Long Thanh International Airport project.

At component project 4, the delegation examined the VAECO and Vietjet maintenance hangar. Minister Minh urged contractors to accelerate efforts, implementing a “3 shifts, 4 teams” schedule to maximize time, manpower, and equipment utilization. While expediting the timeline, he emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining quality standards without compromise.

Minister Tran Hong Minh mandated the completion of all components by June 2026, ensuring readiness for Long Thanh Airport’s operational launch as planned.

He further stressed the need for heightened focus on labor safety, structural integrity, and overall aesthetics during the accelerated construction phase. Each completed section must be meticulously organized and clean.

At component project 3, after inspecting the fuel storage area and the passenger terminal, Minister Minh acknowledged the dedication of investors, consultants, and contractors in adhering to schedules and implementing structured construction methodologies. He urged continued vigilance, maintaining high and synchronized construction pace across all components to ensure technical, architectural, and landscape uniformity.

He emphasized that during this phase, the Long Thanh Airport site must not only be constructed swiftly but also beautifully, sustainably, and cleanly. Each completed component must meet stringent quality, technical, and aesthetic standards, befitting a modern, eco-friendly, 5-star international airport.

The Ministry leadership also stressed the importance of seamless connectivity, urging relevant units and localities to prioritize the development of efficient transportation links to the airport.

Additionally, Minister Minh proposed that local authorities explore and establish direct routes connecting the airport to national highways, ring roads, and provincial transportation networks, facilitating easy access for residents and passengers in the future.

Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) Nguyen Tien Viet reported that all phase 1 packages at Long Thanh Airport are being concurrently executed across the entire site with utmost dedication.

Contractor consortia have mobilized nearly 15,000 specialists, engineers, and workers, along with over 3,000 pieces of equipment and machinery, operating hundreds of work fronts. The ultimate goal is to commence commercial operations at Long Thanh Airport by June 2026.
