The current situation was addressed by Mr. Dương Thanh Bình, Chairman of the People’s Aspirations and Supervisory Committee, during the presentation of the National Assembly’s public aspirations report for December 2025 at the Standing Committee of the National Assembly meeting on the morning of January 12th.
Mr. Dương Thanh Bình, Chairman of the People’s Aspirations and Supervisory Committee.
Mr. Dương Thanh Bình emphasized that voters and the public continue to express their trust in the Party’s leadership in developing the country and achieving the goal of becoming a developed, prosperous, and powerful nation by 2045.
Voters and the public highly appreciate the coordination between the National Assembly and the Government in lawmaking, policy issuance, and implementation, which has fostered consensus and efficiency in state management. They also commend the proactive measures taken to address emerging issues, ensuring a balance between short-term solutions and long-term development.
Despite these achievements, Mr. Dương Thanh Bình noted that voters and the public are concerned about rising prices of essential goods, counterfeit products, and substandard goods, especially during the year-end period.
They also express concerns about the transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles, emphasizing the need for a roadmap that aligns with socio-economic conditions and public accessibility.
“The salary policy and benefits for civil servants, public employees, and retirees have not kept pace with inflation and rising living costs,” Mr. Dương Thanh Bình stated.
“Additionally, the policies for non-specialized personnel at the grassroots level do not adequately reflect their workload and responsibilities in the current context,” he added.
According to Mr. Dương Thanh Bình, the prolonged surge in gold prices has significantly impacted people’s lives, increasing anxiety and affecting the monetary market. This, in turn, has led to higher prices for essential goods and reduced the real value of currency.
Environmental pollution and public health issues, particularly the rising incidence of cancer in recent years, are also major concerns.
The high cost of transportation, especially for students and low-income workers traveling home for Tet, along with traffic congestion and accidents during holidays, remains a pressing issue. The persistent illegal trade, transportation, storage, and use of fireworks also pose serious risks to public safety and health.
Implementing Support Policies for Transitioning to Electric Vehicles
In response to these challenges, the Standing Committee of the People’s Aspirations and Supervisory Committee has proposed that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly urge the Government and the Prime Minister to direct relevant ministries, agencies, and local authorities to ensure adequate supplies of goods for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Measures should be taken to stabilize the market and prices during the holiday season, strengthen market management, control prices, and combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods to protect consumer rights.
The Government is also urged to develop a feasible roadmap for transitioning from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles, implement appropriate support policies, and enhance public awareness to facilitate this shift.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs should review and propose adjustments to policies for non-specialized personnel at the grassroots level, ensuring fair compensation and motivation for their work. Additionally, the Government should consider revising salary and social welfare policies to ensure stable and sustainable livelihoods for civil servants, public employees, retirees, and the general public,” Mr. Dương Thanh Bình recommended.
He also called on the Ministry of Public Security to intensify efforts to inspect, detect, and strictly penalize violations related to fireworks management and use. Effective preventive measures should be implemented, especially during holidays, to curb illegal fireworks activities and ensure public safety and social order.
The Ministry of Health is tasked with conducting comprehensive research to identify the causes of the increasing cancer rates and strengthening food safety management. Strict enforcement against violations is essential to protect public health.
The Government and the Prime Minister should direct the State Bank to continue implementing measures to stabilize the gold market, minimize its impact on essential goods prices, and contribute to the stability of people’s livelihoods.
