On January 12th, the Da Nang Tax Department issued an official response to the report by Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper regarding the calculation of vehicle registration fees for cars in Da Nang.
Previously, Nguoi Lao Dong published an article highlighting a case where a citizen, while completing the necessary procedures to receive a gasoline-powered Yaris Cross priced at 662 million VND, was informed by a local Toyota dealership in Da Nang that the registration fee had increased by over 8.5 million VND compared to December 2025 (from 65.67 million VND to 74.2 million VND).

The Da Nang Tax Department stated they are urgently reviewing and advising the Da Nang People’s Committee to adjust the registration fee calculation for the Toyota Yaris Cross and other vehicles.
Additionally, in the list of registration fee calculations for cars and motorbikes in Da Nang, attached to the Decision issued by the Da Nang People’s Committee on December 29, 2025, the Toyota Yaris Cross was not included. Some other vehicle models were also calculated based on outdated, unadjusted prices.
“Firstly, the Da Nang Tax Department acknowledges the feedback and sincerely thanks Nguoi Lao Dong for their timely information,” the document stated.
According to the Da Nang Tax Department, upon reviewing the feedback, they identified an oversight during the update of the vehicle price list submitted to the Da Nang People’s Committee for the issuance of the decision on registration fee calculations for cars and motorbikes effective from January 1, 2026, resulting in the omission of the gasoline-powered Yaris Cross.
Due to its absence from the price list effective January 1, 2026, when processing registration fee calculations for buyers, the tax authority applied the temporary price list, which had not been adjusted downward, leading to the increased registration fee discrepancy reported by Nguoi Lao Dong.
“Regarding this matter, the Da Nang Tax Department is urgently reviewing, advising, and submitting to the Da Nang People’s Committee to update, adjust, and supplement the pricing for the aforementioned Yaris Cross and other vehicles whose prices have not been adjusted in the price list as per regulations in January 2026. Simultaneously, they will adjust the registration fee notices for vehicle buyers and refund any overpaid registration fees in accordance with the Law on Tax Administration,” the Da Nang Tax Department’s document clearly stated.
