The Hoang Cau – Voi Phuc section of Ring Road 1 spans approximately 2.27 km, with a cross-section of 50 meters. It begins at the Hoang Cau intersection (Cat Linh – La Thanh – Yen Lang) and ends at the Voi Phuc intersection. This route passes through densely populated areas in O Cho Dua, Giang Vo, and Lang wards, requiring extensive land clearance involving nearly 2,000 households, making it one of Hanoi’s most costly land acquisition projects.
As a critical segment of Ring Road 1, this section aims to complete Hanoi’s vital transportation network. The project requires over 153,000 m² of land, affecting 1,983 households and organizations across Dong Da and Ba Dinh districts, now part of O Cho Dua, Giang Vo, and Lang wards.
According to Hanoi’s Department of Construction, land clearance is progressing rapidly, with all activities scheduled for completion by December 31, 2025. Technical alignment is expected by January 15, 2026. The project includes road foundations, intersections, drainage systems, utility tunnels, lighting, greenery, sidewalks, traffic management, and infrastructure relocation.
Local wards have completed land handover to the investor, and all structures within the clearance boundary have been demolished, as reported by VTC News.
Land clearance has received widespread support from residents. Authorities have enhanced dialogue, transparently communicated compensation policies, and addressed concerns promptly, ensuring a smooth process.
“Our family has deep roots here, and leaving is bittersweet. However, understanding the project’s significance and policies, we agreed to hand over the land on schedule,” shared a Giang Vo resident.
Land leveling is accelerating to meet project deadlines.
La Thanh Street, known for its furniture shops, has been cleared, marking the end of an era for Hanoi’s iconic trading area.
Some businesses note construction impacts, but acknowledge it as a necessary phase for urban development.
“Construction is disruptive, but it’s temporary. The completed road will enhance mobility and business prospects,” said Dao Thi Hanh, a La Thanh furniture store owner.
Covering 31.5 km², Ring Road 1 is Hanoi’s transportation backbone, serving 600,000 residents daily. Completing the Hoang Cau – Voi Phuc section is vital to finalizing this network.
Residents anticipate reduced traffic congestion, modernized urban landscapes, and improved living standards upon the road’s completion, boosting Hanoi’s socio-economic development.
