At the press conference announcing the Northern Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Urban Area Project on January 13th, alongside long-term strategic directions, the former Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center was repurposed to become the Science and Technology Building.
The former Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center once served as the hub for the local government’s management and operations for many years. As Ho Chi Minh City’s development space expanded and a multi-centered urban model emerged, the role of this structure was redefined within a new context.

According to the plan, the building will be transformed into a space dedicated to research, innovation, and fostering connections between businesses and scientists, while supporting the science and technology ecosystem.
This repositioning reflects a shift from a management and operational model to one focused on knowledge and technology-driven development. It serves as a solution to “expedite” the Northern Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Urban Area Project.
The Science and Technology Building will house co-working spaces and an ecosystem coordination center, acting as a “focal point” for other component projects.
Given its large scale, fully developed technical infrastructure, and location within the former Binh Duong New City area, the building can be swiftly renovated for science and technology activities.
During the press conference, relevant units announced that a public-private partnership model will be explored for the renovation and operation of the Science and Technology Building, ensuring efficient utilization and operational standards.

The Science and Technology Building will not operate in isolation but will serve as a core connector within the Northern Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Urban Area.
From here, research, training, entrepreneurship, and trade promotion activities can be linked to other spaces such as Saigon Innovation Campus, Binh Duong Concentrated Digital Technology Zone, WTC Tower, and the WTC Expo Exhibition Center.
Repositioning the former Binh Duong Administrative Center is also expected to create a ripple effect on the urban landscape of the northern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
As science and technology activities are activated, the demand for high-quality housing, services, education, and social infrastructure in the surrounding areas will increase. This will contribute to urban restructuring, enhance the efficiency of existing infrastructure, and create additional development opportunities.
