The entire 38 km stretch of National Highway 1 from Ba Dinh to Phu Xuyen, Hanoi, is proposed for a threefold expansion via a PPP investment model.
Currently, the urban section of NH1 features 4–8 lanes with a total width of up to 30 meters. The proposal aims to expand this to approximately 90 meters, tripling its current size.
The 10 km Le Duan – Giai Phong – Ngoc Hoi segment (urban NH1) boasts Hanoi’s widest cross-section and most synchronized infrastructure.
Major intersections, including Ring Roads 1, 2, 2.5, and 3, are equipped with underpasses and overpasses.
Experts note dense residential areas, the North-South railway, and key facilities like Bach Mai Hospital along the Ba Dinh–Phu Xuyen route. Expansion may prioritize left-side land clearance.
NH1 on Le Duan Street passes the Central Circus, located on the left side of the road.
NH1 on Le Duan Street, near the Central Circus, lies on the road’s left side.
NH1 intersects Giai Phong – Ngoc Hoi and Nuoc Ngam Bus Station.
The 90-meter expansion near Thong Nhat Park faces challenges due to Bay Mau Lake, requiring meticulous planning and tailored solutions.
Hanoi’s Department of Construction has solicited expert feedback on the PPP proposal to widen the 38.8 km Ba Dinh–Phu Xuyen NH1 segment to 90 meters.
The investor must submit a detailed survey report by January 15, comprehensively evaluating feasibility, advantages, and implementation challenges.
