Groundbreaking Ceremony for Cat Lai and Long Hung Bridges in Dong Nai Province

On January 15th, Dong Nai Province will host the groundbreaking ceremony for two pivotal transportation infrastructure projects: the Cat Lai Bridge and the Long Hung Bridge. These projects, directly connecting Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City, are expected to catalyze socio-economic development in Dong Nai and the entire Southeast region.

The Cat Lai Bridge project, a long-awaited aspiration of Dong Nai’s officials and residents for over 32 years, is now becoming a reality, linking the province with Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the plan, the entire route of the Cat Lai Bridge and its access roads spans approximately 11.6 km. The project begins on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (Ho Chi Minh City), about 400 meters from the My Thuy intersection, and ends connecting to the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway (Dong Nai Province). The route passes through Cat Lai Ward (Ho Chi Minh City) and Dai Phuoc Commune (Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai). The preliminary total investment is nearly VND 18,300 billion.

Technically, the Cat Lai Bridge is designed to urban arterial road standards with a design speed of 80 km/h. The main bridge section is approximately 3 km long, featuring a continuous cable-stayed structure with a cross-section width of 33.5 meters, accommodating 6 motor vehicle lanes and 2 non-motorized lanes.

Upon completion, the Cat Lai Bridge will not only alleviate traffic congestion at the existing Cat Lai Ferry but also unlock new development opportunities, enhance investment appeal, and boost economic growth in the Southern Key Economic Region.

Similarly, the Long Hung Bridge (Dong Nai 2 Bridge), spanning about 12 km with a 2.3 km bridge section, connects National Highway 51 (Tam Phuoc Ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai) with Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 (Long Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City). Designed for 8 lanes with a speed limit of 80 km/h, the project’s total investment is estimated at nearly VND 11,800 billion.

The consortium led by Construction Corporation No. 1 – JSC (CC1) will undertake the roles of investor for both the Cat Lai and Long Hung Bridge projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, specifically a Build-Transfer (BT) contract.

In addition to these two projects, on January 15th, Dong Nai Province will also host the technical opening ceremony and groundbreaking for five other projects, including: the technical opening of the Dong Nai Riverside Road Project; the groundbreaking for the Nha Bich Bridge on National Highway 14; the commencement of two social housing projects in Phuoc An Commune (2.1 hectares with approximately 1,800 apartments and 3.1 hectares with approximately 1,490 apartments); and a social housing and commercial apartment project in the Long Hung Residential Area, Long Hung Ward.
