Honda Vietnam, Dominating 83% of the Motorcycle Market, Seeks Support for Eco-Friendly Production and Usage

Honda Vietnam currently holds approximately 83% of the motorcycle market share and 9% of the automobile market share in Vietnam, contributing over 11,880 billion VND to the state budget in 2025.

According to the Phu Tho Province’s Official Information Portal, the Central Policy and Strategy Board conducted a working visit to Phu Tho Province on January 13th, including a tour of Honda Vietnam’s manufacturing facility.

Honda Vietnam established its presence in the former Vinh Phuc Province in 1996. Over 30 years of growth, the company now operates three manufacturing plants with a combined annual capacity of over 2.7 million units.

Throughout its operations, Honda Vietnam has achieved significant milestones: the inauguration of its second plant in 2008 alongside the launch of its first scooter model; the production of its 10 millionth vehicle in September 2011; the opening of its third plant in the former Ha Nam Province in November 2014; the 20 millionth unit milestone in September 2016; the introduction of its first electric motorcycle in March 2025; and the 40 millionth motorcycle produced in June 2025, with a 97% localization rate for motorcycles and approximately 26% for automobiles.

Currently, Honda Vietnam offers 8 motorcycle models, capturing approximately 83% of Vietnam’s motorcycle market share and 9% of the automobile market. The company exports around 25% of its production, significantly contributes to the provincial budget, and employs over 10,000 people with an average monthly income of 19 million VND per person. In 2025, the company contributed over 11,880 billion VND to the state budget.

Looking ahead to hybrid vehicle production, Honda Vietnam began assembling the Honda CR-Ve:HEV model in early 2026.

Honda Vietnam urges the government to implement comprehensive policies for green transportation transformation, support the production and use of eco-friendly vehicles, provide land for public charging stations, and establish a clear roadmap for transitioning from gasoline to electric vehicles.

Recognizing Honda Vietnam as a model enterprise in Vietnam, Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Board Nguyen Duc Hien acknowledged the company’s proposals, particularly its focus on hybrid vehicle production, aligning with Vietnam’s Net Zero goals.
