As of the closing trading session last night and early this morning on January 15th (Vietnam time), Arabica prices on the New York exchange fell by $60-$90 per ton, while Robusta prices on the London exchange dropped by $3-$4 per ton for May, July, and September 2026 contracts. Notably, the benchmark March 2026 Robusta contract rose by $2 per ton, reaching $3,955 per ton.
Coffee Prices Dip Below Last Year’s Levels by $17 per kg
Meanwhile, the March Arabica contract declined by $90 per ton, settling at $7,850 per ton.
Converted to local currency, the benchmark Robusta price stands at 103,000 VND/kg, while the latest domestic coffee price is 98,400 VND/kg. Today’s coffee prices are expected to remain stable.
Current domestic coffee prices are approximately 17,000 VND/kg lower than the same period last year, primarily due to a surge in coffee supply entering the market.
Vietnam’s coffee supply is rebounding.
Robusta Floods the Market from Vietnam
Customs data reveals that in the first three months of the 2025-2026 coffee season (October to December 2025), Vietnam’s total coffee exports reached 339,000 tons, a 47% increase compared to the same period last year.
In addition to the rise in exports, the low base from the previous year also contributed to this growth.
Despite a delayed harvest in the 2025-2026 season, Vietnam’s coffee exports have increased, largely due to carryover stocks from the previous season.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council reported that Brazil’s Robusta exports in the first five months of the season (July to November 2025) totaled 136,800 tons, a 49% decrease from the same period last year. This decline is attributed to low Robusta inventories in Brazil and a preference for domestic consumption due to its lower price compared to Arabica.
This factor has prevented Robusta prices from falling sharply, despite predictions that Brazil might overtake Vietnam as the leading Robusta producer.
Today’s Coffee Prices (Jan 7): Surging Up, Reclaiming Key Milestone
Coffee prices surged today, with Robusta rebounding to the $4,000 per ton mark and Arabica surpassing $8,000 per ton.
