VIDEO: Comprehensive Overview of the $600 Million Southern Hanoi Axis Road Project Accelerating Progress.

The Southern Hanoi Axis Road project spans 41.5km, commenced in 2008 with a total investment of over $600 million, offset by more than 500 hectares of land. This primary transportation axis connects various wards and communes in Southern Hanoi, catering to the growing travel demands of residents.

The route begins at the Phúc La – Kiến Hưng area (passing through Thanh Hà Urban Area) and ends at National Highway 1A, beneath Giẽ Bridge (Chuyên Mỹ Commune, Hanoi).

By 2019, the first phase of the road, spanning over 19km from Hà Đông to former Thanh Oai, was operational. The remaining sections faced prolonged delays due to land clearance issues.

By 2019, the first phase of the road, spanning over 19km from Hà Đông to former Thanh Oai, was operational. The remaining sections faced prolonged delays due to land clearance issues.

To resolve these issues, between 2024 and 2025, the Hanoi People’s Committee held numerous meetings and issued directives. Local authorities and communes have since addressed land clearance challenges, urging the developer to expedite construction.

Following the completed section, over 7km from Km 18+400 to Provincial Road 428 has been constructed, achieving over 90% completion. Half of this segment is already open for temporary traffic.

Contractors are currently laying asphalt and finalizing the road surface, expected to complete within the next two weeks.

Greenery, lighting poles, and signage systems are being finalized.

The road is designed with a 40m width, featuring six lanes.

All components are being urgently implemented.

Speaking to Tiền Phong, a representative from Cienco 5 Real Estate Development JSC (contractor) stated that the 7km segment from Km 18+400 to Provincial Road 428 is expected to complete road surfacing by January 20, 2026, with traffic opening during the Lunar New Year.

For the remaining 15km, contractors are mobilizing equipment and focusing on foundation work and weak soil treatment. Land clearance is now clear up to National Highway 1, near the Giẽ Interchange.

Once fully operational, the Southern Axis Road will connect National Highway 1 and Ring Road 4, fostering new urban development and expanding growth opportunities for Southern and Southwestern Hanoi.
