Vietnam’s automotive market concluded the 2025 fiscal year with significant growth in the mid-size SUV segment. According to annual reports from VAMA, VinFast, and Hyundai TC, the Mazda CX-5 solidified its position as the most popular mid-size SUV in Vietnam. With a total of 17,262 units sold, it outpaced all competitors in its class. Consistent supply and flexible pricing strategies throughout the year maintained its appeal among consumers nationwide.

The Ford Territory secured second place in the 2025 sales rankings. This American-branded SUV achieved a robust sales figure of 12,786 units, reflecting the market’s positive reception to its spacious interior and advanced technology. Notably, the Ford Territory was one of only two mid-size SUVs to surpass the 10,000-unit milestone this year.

The VinFast VF7 has yet to dominate its segment.

In third place, the all-electric VinFast VF 7 delivered 9,653 units to customers. While it hasn’t yet overtaken its siblings—the VF6, VF5, and VF3—in segment leadership, this figure remains impressive for a fully electric vehicle. As charging infrastructure expands, the VinFast VF 7 is poised to strengthen its position against traditional gasoline-powered rivals.

Closely following is the Toyota Corolla Cross, with 8,708 units sold. Toyota’s resurgence in the top tier highlights the enduring influence of brand reputation and versatility on Vietnamese purchasing decisions. Notably, the hybrid variant of this model recorded nearly 3,000 sales in 2025.

Rounding out the top five is the Hyundai Tucson, which sold 7,842 units. Despite intense competition from new entrants and the rise of electric vehicles, the Hyundai Tucson retained a loyal customer base, thanks to its distinctive design and comfort features.

Overall, the 2025 mid-size SUV landscape revealed a clear divide between market leaders and the rest. Notably absent from the top sellers was the once-familiar Honda CR-V. Instead, the market is witnessing a shift toward competitively priced models and eco-friendly vehicles, signaling a new era in consumer preferences.
