For Carlsberg Vietnam, sustainable development is not a short-term campaign or a timely goal. It is a long-term commitment to the country and community, guided by the Carlsberg Group’s “Together Towards ZERO & Beyond” strategy. This framework shapes commitments across the entire value chain, from production and supply chain to people and the communities where the company operates.

Sustainable Development from Operational Foundations

Starting in 2025, Carlsberg Vietnam proactively strengthened its sustainable development governance by establishing a Sustainability Committee, involving representatives from relevant departments.

Zero Carbon Emissions: Green Transformation Begins with Production

At the Phu Bai Brewery, sustainability is integrated as a core principle throughout operations. In August 2025, the brewery expansion project was completed and launched with a “future-ready” approach. The new brewing line reduces water usage by 20% and energy consumption by 15%. Alongside technological innovations, the brewery increased the use of biomass fuel, prepared to join the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA), and implemented a rooftop solar power system. These measures decrease reliance on fossil fuels and increase the share of renewable energy in production.

These steps lay a solid foundation for Carlsberg Vietnam’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions in production by 2028.

Zero Water Waste: Responsible Resource Management

Water resource management and protection remain a key focus. The company aims to reduce water consumption to 2.0 hl/hl by 2026, demonstrating a long-term commitment to environmental responsibility.

Zero Packaging Waste: Promoting a Circular Economy

As an active member of the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PRO Vietnam), the company targets 100% reusable or recyclable packaging by 2026, aligning with Vietnam’s green economic development goals.

Zero Workplace Accidents: Sustainability Starts with People

Sustainable development is meaningful only when built on a safe, respectful, and humane work environment. The commitment to a zero-accident culture is reflected in operational standards and investments in employee well-being.

The annual Safety & Health Day reinforces the commitment to a “zero-accident workplace.”

Engaging and Supporting the Community

Beyond operational commitments, Carlsberg Vietnam focuses on positively impacting local communities, especially in Central Vietnam, where it has operated for decades. Initiatives include the “Clean Water for a Loving Central Vietnam” program and the “Full and Loving Tet” campaign.

The “Full and Loving Tet” campaign reflects the company’s enduring commitment to local communities.

Recognition for a Persistent Journey

The company’s sustainability efforts were recognized with prestigious awards in 2025. In its debut participation, Carlsberg Vietnam ranked among the Top 100 Sustainable Companies in Vietnam 2025, organized by VBCSD – VCCI. Earlier, it received the “Business for the Community” award at the EuroCham Gala Dinner & Business Awards 2025, honoring its long-term societal contributions.

These achievements reflect the company’s belief in sustainable development.

In terms of people, Carlsberg Vietnam was recognized as “Asia’s Best Workplace” at the HR Asia Awards for the third consecutive year and received the “Work the Nordic Way – Best Place to Work” award at the Nordic Business Awards 2025. These successes underscore the company’s belief that true sustainability begins with people—from a safe, humane work environment to a culture of trust and empowerment.
