According to reports from Tien Phong’s journalists, as of this morning (January 14th), the barriers along Hanoi’s Ring Road 1 from the Hoang Cau – Yen Lang intersection to Voi Phuc have been largely removed. The project’s one-way road, with a width equivalent to over two lanes, is now clearly visible, allowing residents to travel by car and motorcycle from Hoang Cau to Voi Phuc along a 2.2 km stretch.
The Hanoi Civil Construction Project Management Board (the investor) announced that the technical opening of the road allows the project to transition to the finalization phase of the road as per the planning.
According to the investor, the road is approximately 2,274 meters long with a cross-section of 50 meters. It starts at the Hoang Cau – Yen Lang intersection and ends at the Voi Phuc intersection.
Additionally, the project includes two overpasses: one at the Lang Ha intersection, 18 meters wide for four two-way lanes, with a total length of 250.7 meters. The second overpass is at the Nguyen Chi Thanh intersection, also 18 meters wide for four two-way lanes, with a total length of 220.7 meters.
A temporary road surfaced with gravel, 7 meters wide and over 2 km long, has been essentially completed to facilitate traffic flow. Traffic signs and flags have been fully installed at intersections to ensure safety. Concurrently, the contractor continues to construct technical trenches, rainwater drainage systems, and utility pipelines along the route—foundational elements for long-term operation.
The Hoang Cau – Voi Phuc Ring Road 1 project, initiated by Hanoi over a decade ago with a total investment of more than 7 trillion VND, has faced repeated delays due to land acquisition issues. Approximately 300 households within the project area have not yet agreed to hand over their properties and constructions.
Since mid-June 2020, the Lang Ha – Giang Vo overpass package has been under construction. With the complete handover of the land, the entire route has entered an accelerated phase.
From December 2025 onwards, under the direct supervision of the Secretary of the City Party Committee and the leadership of the People’s Committee, the project has successively completed land clearance and technical route construction in just over a month.
The technical opening of the road facilitates smooth and safe travel for residents through the area, while also reducing pressure on adjacent routes.
According to the plan, the contract package is scheduled for completion by December 30, 2026. Once operational, the Hoang Cau – Voi Phuc section will help alleviate congestion, improve the living environment, enhance urban infrastructure quality, and meet the growing travel demands of Hanoi’s residents.
