According to the Department of Construction, the addition of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong Street to the scope of the green park project at Lot 1 Ly Thai To has been approved by the People’s Committee.
However, during coordination, Vung Tau Urban Investment and Development LLC determined that they would only undertake the construction investment and would not cover the relocation costs for VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong.
As a result, stakeholders convened a meeting and agreed to relocate the remaining portion of VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong, covering approximately 4,200 square meters, using city funds. This decision aims to ensure the project’s scale and timeline.
Nevertheless, if a separate compensation and site clearance project is established for the property at 2 Hung Vuong, the Department of Construction notes that this area will be handled under two distinct projects.
First, the compensation and site clearance project for the investment in constructing the public park at Lot 1 Ly Thai To and 2 Hung Vuong.
Second, the investment project to expand Tran Binh Trong Street in Vuon Lai Ward. In this project, the Vuon Lai Ward People’s Committee has been designated as the investor, which also includes relocating a portion of the yard area belonging to VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong.
Therefore, to ensure the timely completion of the redevelopment of Lot 1 Ly Thai To, the Department of Construction proposes that the People’s Committee assigns the Vuon Lai Ward People’s Committee to study the addition of tasks for completing Phase 2 of the commemorative park at Lot 1 Ly Thai To.
This phase includes relocating the remaining portion of VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong, covering approximately 4,200 square meters, and completing the park at this location according to the approved master plan outlined in the investment proposal for expanding Tran Binh Trong Street.
The Department of Finance will allocate targeted budget funds to support Vuon Lai Ward in implementing the project (from the funds already allocated for the investment project to expand Tran Binh Trong Street).
