According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Police, nearly 100 officers from various specialized units were mobilized to simultaneously inspect and search 12 locations in Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Ca Mau, and Ho Chi Minh City. These sites were identified as directly involved in the production, refilling, storage, and distribution of counterfeit gas.
During the operation, authorities detained 16 individuals, including 3 masterminds who directly organized and managed the illegal production and distribution of fake gas. The remaining suspects were involved in collecting gas cylinders, refilling them, affixing counterfeit labels, and transporting the products for sale.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate collected empty gas cylinders from various brands circulating in the market, transported them to refilling hubs, and illegally filled them with gas. The cylinders were then labeled with fake trademarks and shrink-wrapped to conceal their origins before being distributed across southern provinces.
At the inspected locations, authorities seized a significant amount of evidence, including 6,252 empty LPG cylinders, 4,552 filled LPG cylinders, 22,945 shrink wraps, 27,453 counterfeit labels, 661 plastic caps, 10 sets of pumping, compressing, and heating equipment used for illegal refilling.
Additionally, police impounded 20 trucks, 3 motorcycles, and numerous documents and items related to the production and trade of counterfeit gas.
Investigators determined that the fake gas produced by this network was labeled with major brands such as Total Energies, Eif Gas, H-Gas, VT-Gas, Saigon Petro, MT Gas, Phoenis Gas, and Vimexco Gas.
The Tay Ninh Provincial Police emphasized that this was a major case, conducted during a peak period of crime suppression to ensure security ahead of the Party Congress, elections, and the 2026 Lunar New Year. The production and trade of counterfeit gas not only infringe upon the rights of legitimate businesses but also pose significant fire and explosion risks, directly threatening the lives and property of citizens.
The Tay Ninh Provincial Police are continuing to expand their investigation to clarify the roles of all individuals involved and are compiling evidence for legal proceedings.
