Can Tho Generates Nearly VND 10 Trillion in Tourism Revenue

The information was presented at the 2025 Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Work Review Conference, along with the deployment of tasks for 2026, held by the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (DoCST) of Can Tho City on January 15th.

Throughout the past year, Can Tho hosted numerous large-scale events and activities that attracted visitors, such as the Hung Kings Commemoration, the Riverside Cultural Festival, the Oc Om Boc Festival – Ngo Boat Race, and exhibitions celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd.

By the end of 2025, the DoCST reported that the total number of tourist arrivals in Can Tho reached over 11 million, an 18% increase compared to 2024. Of these, overnight visitors were estimated at over 4.9 million, and international visitors at more than 444,400. Total tourism revenue for the year was approximately 10 trillion VND, a 20% increase from 2024.

In terms of promotion and tourism development, the Can Tho DoCST proactively organized and participated in various tourism events, such as the Garden Spring Colors Program, the Tet Art Flower Street, the Southern Folk Cake Festival, and traditional festivals. These events were widely promoted through media and social networks in various formats. Alongside these promotional activities, the department facilitated connections between tourism businesses to foster cooperation and launch new tour routes.

Additionally, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Social Affairs launched a smart tourism system, which recorded over 6.4 million visits. The smart tourism application was downloaded nearly 6,000 times. These systems provide comprehensive information about Can Tho City, its attractions, tourism activities, and services within the city.
