Starting March 29, 2026, travelers can fly directly from Taipei to Phu Quoc on flights operated by Sun PhuQuoc Airways. This marks the airline’s first international route.
Tickets are expected to go on sale from January 21, 2026. The route was launched after Sun PhuQuoc Airways received the Air Route Certificate from Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration on January 5, 2026.
To operate and penetrate the market, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has appointed Hongyi Travel Service as its General Sales Agent (GSA) in Taiwan. Hongyi is a leading international travel agency with an extensive distribution network in the region.
Phu Quoc has recently seen a rise in Taiwanese visitors. According to data from Phu Quoc International Airport, the island welcomed over 144,000 Taiwanese tourists in 2025. The destination offers unique attractions such as the Hon Thom Cable Car, vibrant shopping and entertainment complexes, and a bustling night market, consistently drawing Asian travelers.
The direct Taipei-Phu Quoc route is expected to reduce travel time compared to connecting flights, boosting tourism between the two destinations.
Following the Taipei route, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to launch additional international destinations in 2026. Starting Q2 2026, the airline will connect Phu Quoc with Busan, Singapore, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. From Q3 2026, new routes to Mumbai, New Delhi, and Kaohsiung are expected.
Domestically, the airline currently operates routes from Hanoi to Phu Quoc (5 flights/day), Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc (7 flights/day), Da Nang to Phu Quoc (1 flight/day), and Cam Ranh to Phu Quoc (4 flights/week from March 15, 2026). Frequency increases are planned before year-end. Beyond Phu Quoc connections, the airline also services high-demand routes like Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City and plans to add Hanoi-Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang from May 2026.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways, part of Sun Group, connects Phu Quoc with domestic and international destinations. The airline expanded its fleet from 0 to 9 aircraft within 6 months (August 10, 2025, to February 2026) and maintains a young fleet. In December 2025, it achieved a 93.5% on-time performance (OTP), surpassing the industry average of 70.7%.
