The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has recently reported to the People’s Committee on the progress of the public works project at Lot 1 Ly Thai To, Vuon Lai Ward.

According to the Department of Construction, the addition of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong Street to the scope of the green park project at Lot 1 Ly Thai To has been approved by the People’s Committee.

However, during coordination, Vung Tau Urban Investment and Development Company confirmed that it would only undertake the construction investment and would not cover the relocation costs for VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong Street.

As a result, stakeholders convened a meeting and agreed that the remaining portion of VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong Street, covering approximately 4,200 m2, should be relocated using city funds. This ensures the project’s scale and timeline are maintained.

However, if the compensation and site clearance project for the property at 2 Hung Vuong Street is established as a separate project, the Department of Construction notes that this area will be handled under two distinct projects.

First, the compensation and site clearance project for the construction of the public park at Lot 1 Ly Thai To and 2 Hung Vuong Street.

Second, the project to expand Tran Binh Trong Street in Vuon Lai Ward. In this project, the Vuon Lai Ward People’s Committee has been designated as the investor, which also includes relocating a portion of the yard area belonging to VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong Street.

To ensure the timely completion of the redevelopment of Lot 1 Ly Thai To, the Department of Construction proposes that the People’s Committee assigns the Vuon Lai Ward People’s Committee to study and supplement the task of completing Phase 2 of the memorial park at Lot 1 Ly Thai To.

This phase includes relocating the remaining portion of VNPT’s headquarters at 2 Hung Vuong Street, covering approximately 4,200 m2, and completing the park area at this location according to the approved master plan for the project to expand Tran Binh Trong Street.

The Department of Finance is to allocate additional targeted budget funds to Vuon Lai Ward to execute the project (from the funds already allocated for the project to expand Tran Binh Trong Street).
