Unprecedented Price Drop: New iPhone Launch Sees Massive Discount of Nearly $400

Just four months after its September 2025 launch, the latest iPhone has seen a staggering price drop of up to $380, a depreciation rate that outpaces even the notoriously fast-depreciating Android flagships.

Vietnam’s mobile market is witnessing a rare paradox as the iPhone Air, Apple’s ultra-slim design icon, struggles to find its footing. Initially priced at 32 million VND, the device maintained steady sales during its early phase.

However, by January 2026, its value plummeted. On official e-commerce platforms, the 256GB iPhone Air was spotted at just 23 million VND at one point. This marks a staggering 9 million VND drop since its launch, with an average monthly decline of over 2 million VND.

The iPhone Air now costs around 23 million VND, nearly 10 million VND less than its launch price.

Beyond e-commerce platforms, major retailers like The Gioi Di Dong and FPT Shop have adjusted prices to 25-26 million VND, offering accessory bundles to boost sales.

Compared to its contemporaries, while the iPhone 17 and Pro/Pro Max models maintain strong prices with minor adjustments of 1-2 million VND, the iPhone Air has seen a drastic price drop. Despite now matching the iPhone 17’s price, the Air falls short in battery and camera performance. Its only advantages are its sleek design and novelty.

Additionally, many Android smartphones offer competitive pricing and advanced features, such as the Oppo Find X9, Vivo X300, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, known for its exceptional zoom capabilities.

Aesthetic appeal and slimness alone aren’t enough to make the iPhone Air a top choice for users.

Globally, SellCell reports that the iPhone Air is the poorest-performing model in Apple’s 2025 lineup, even underperforming previous flops like the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 14 Plus. This indicates that consumers are increasingly pragmatic, unwilling to spend over 30 million VND for a visually appealing but functionally limited device.

Currently, the iPhone Air’s price range of 23-25 million VND is more reasonable. However, some users remain cautious, waiting to avoid further price drops as the device’s value continues to fluctuate unpredictably.
