On January 17th, during a press tour of the silk spinning factory—a new venture for Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (HAGL)—Chairman Doan Nguyen Duc (known as “Bầu Đức”) announced a heartfelt gesture of gratitude towards the employees who helped revive the company from near bankruptcy.
The appreciation includes gifting apartments valued between $100,000 and $330,000 each, depending on the level of contribution, along with ESOP shares worth $21 million and additional shares valued at $12 million.
To qualify for these rewards, employees must have been with the company since May 30, 2016—the peak of HAGL’s decline—and remain employed to date.
Bầu Đức Rewards Loyal Employees with Generous Gifts at Hoang Anh Gia Lai
The apartments are part of the Phu Dong High-Rise Residential and Commercial Complex, set to break ground on January 18th.
“This marks HAGL’s final real estate project, as the company now focuses solely on agriculture,” Bầu Đức emphasized.

Bầu Đức recalled the challenging period when HAGL struggled to pay employee salaries for over six months.
Recipients of the apartments will be listed as owners on the property deeds but cannot transfer ownership for five years, ensuring their continued commitment to the company.
According to Bầu Đức, these employees safeguarded the company’s $1.1 billion in assets during its most challenging phase.
“Their dedication kept HAGL afloat, and gifting homes is the least we can do to show our appreciation. We hope this sets a precedent for other companies to reward employees with high-value assets,” Bầu Đức expressed.
Previously, during shareholder meetings, Bầu Đức had acknowledged the difficult times when HAGL delayed salaries for over six months. Despite this, the employees remained loyal, helping steer the company toward recovery.
On the same day, via video call from the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Academy, Bầu Đức pledged $2,100 each to five academy graduates—goalkeeper Trung Kiên, Quốc Việt, Nhật Minh, Lý Đức, and Quốc Cường—for their contributions to Vietnam’s U23 team. He also promised $4,700 per player for a draw in the upcoming match and $9,400 for a win.
Additionally, Bầu Đức committed to donating $47,000 to the U23 Vietnam team if they reach the semi-finals.
