As of the overnight trading session ending early morning on January 16th (Vietnam time), Arabica coffee prices on the New York exchange rose by 0.59%-0.63%, while Robusta coffee prices on the London exchange increased by 0.86%-1.21%.
For the March 2026 reference contract, Robusta prices climbed by $48 per ton to $4,003, and Arabica prices rose by $50 to $7,890 per ton.
This marks the fourth consecutive session of gains for Robusta coffee in the reference contract, totaling a $100 per ton increase—a positive sign for coffee holders.
Converted to the local currency, Robusta prices on the exchange currently stand at 104,300 VND/kg, while the latest domestic coffee price is 98,500 VND/kg.
Coffee prices have risen steadily over the past four sessions.
Domestically, coffee prices are expected to rebound today, with an anticipated increase of approximately 1,000 VND/kg.
According to several coffee exporters, farmers’ current price expectation at the beginning of the season is 100,000 VND/kg. However, recent prices have mostly fallen below this threshold, leading to minimal sales.
Meanwhile, buyers are purchasing in batches based on production needs and are not stockpiling due to high prices. The mismatch in price expectations between buyers and sellers has resulted in sluggish coffee transactions.
