Over the past year, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department detected 1,236 violations, resulting in administrative fines and budget collections exceeding VND 26.4 billion.
Among these, gold and jewelry violations accounted for 30 cases (fines over VND 1 billion); smuggled goods, 122 cases (fines over VND 1.2 billion); goods of unknown origin, 610 cases (fines VND 6.7 billion); counterfeit goods, 340 cases (fines VND 6.7 billion); food products, 268 cases (fines VND 3.7 billion); and cosmetics, 125 cases (fines VND 1.8 billion).

In the e-commerce sector, 186 violations were inspected, involving the sale of smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, and businesses operating without registered e-commerce websites or apps as required by state authorities.
Authorities seized nearly 200,000 units of products, including gold jewelry, dietary supplements, and cosmetics. Subsequently, fines totaling over VND 2.5 billion were imposed.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department, stated that the end of the year will see an increase in smuggling and counterfeit production, particularly for essential Tet goods (confectionery, alcohol, beverages, and food).
Violations in the e-commerce environment will continue to evolve with complex schemes, including shocking promotions and discounts to sell substandard products.
Mr. Huy emphasized the implementation of intensive campaigns against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, focusing on the Tet period. Proactive market monitoring will be crucial to promptly prevent smuggled and counterfeit goods.
Inspection and control efforts will concentrate on food safety, counterfeit goods, product origin, and e-commerce.
