On January 30th, the People’s Committee of O Dien Commune announced that local authorities had carried out the forced demolition of a Pickleball court constructed on agricultural land.

Previously, during a routine inspection, the commune authorities discovered that Mr. Nguyen Ba Son’s family (Cluster 8, O Dien Commune) had leveled the land and erected an unauthorized structure on approximately 675 m² of agricultural land. The structure, featuring a steel frame and a 6-meter-high corrugated iron roof, was being used as a Pickleball court, causing public outrage.

Local authorities had conducted awareness campaigns and urged the family to voluntarily dismantle the illegal structure. However, due to non-compliance, the commune People’s Committee decisively implemented the forced demolition on January 29th.

Earlier, on January 27th, the People’s Committee of Tay Phuong Commune (Hanoi) carried out the forced demolition of 19 land violation cases within the commune.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Luong, Vice Chairman of Tay Phuong Commune People’s Committee, stated that the cases involved misuse of land and unauthorized construction on agricultural and public utility land, including temporary shelters, corrugated iron workshops, landfilling, concrete foundations, corrugated iron fencing, steel frame installations, and residential buildings.

According to Mr. Luong, some structures initially intended as temporary shelters were later upgraded into permanent buildings, altering the land use status and severely violating land laws.

Prior to the forced demolition, the Tay Phuong Commune People’s Committee held multiple meetings and direct dialogues with the violating households, while also intensifying public awareness campaigns and publicly posting the demolition plan, schedule, and locations.

On the morning of January 28th, the People’s Committee of Nam Phu Commune (Hanoi) mobilized forces to address land violations in the Huu Hong Dyke area and the Dong Phu Cemetery.

Nam Phu Commune authorities address illegal structures near the cemetery area.

Specifically, in the Huu Hong Dyke area, authorities rectified three violations covering a total area of over 230 m², all on dyke land managed by the commune. At the Dong Phu Cemetery, authorities dismantled illegally constructed enclosures.

The remediation process was conducted in strict accordance with legal procedures and regulations.
