During this period, the regulatory body continued to neither allocate nor utilize the price stabilization fund for fuel products.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the global fuel market during this adjustment period (January 22–28, 2026) was influenced by key factors such as: escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran; severe cold weather in the U.S.; a sharper-than-expected decline in U.S. oil inventories; a weakening U.S. dollar; prospects in negotiations to resolve the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine; and the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
These factors led to fluctuating global fuel prices over recent days, varying by product.
The average global prices of refined fuel products between the January 22, 2026, and January 29, 2026, adjustments were: $71.468/barrel for RON92 gasoline used to blend E5 RON92 (up $0.412/barrel); $73.582/barrel for RON95 gasoline (up $1.214/barrel); $84.804/barrel for kerosene (up $1.416/barrel); $85.154/barrel for diesel (up $2.798/barrel); and $389.666/ton for mazut (up $27.152/ton).
Since the beginning of 2026, domestic gasoline prices have undergone four adjustments: two reductions and two increases.
Previously, during the January 22 adjustment, E5 RON92 gasoline decreased by 93 VND/liter, capping at 18,283 VND/liter. RON95 gasoline dropped by 81 VND/liter, not exceeding 18,631 VND/liter.
