On January 28, the Phu Quoc Special Administrative-Economic Zone and Sun Group officially broke ground on the Bai Dat Do Mixed-Use Urban Area and the Nui Ong Quan Eco-Tourism Urban Area—two of the 21 APEC-approved projects. These developments will add approximately 12,000 hotel rooms, serviced apartments, and international-standard commercial centers, ensuring top-tier infrastructure to meet the stringent requirements of the high-profile APEC 2027 summit. Simultaneously, they will redefine Phu Quoc’s urban landscape in hospitality and commerce.
Spanning 88.4 hectares with an investment of approximately VND 64 trillion, the Bai Dat Do Mixed-Use Urban Area is strategically located along the APEC Boulevard, adjacent to the APEC Convention Center and the Sunset Town. This prime location underscores its significance.
The project promises to unveil a large-scale hospitality complex within just 18 months, setting an ambitious timeline.
Within this timeframe, the project will elevate Phu Quoc’s luxury accommodation capacity to approximately 16,500 rooms, nearly doubling the island’s 5-star inventory established over the past 15 years. This surge is pivotal to accommodate the expected 12,000 to 15,000 international delegates, including politicians, corporate leaders, and media representatives.
The Bai Dat Do Mixed-Use Urban Area is poised to become a coastal “hotel city,” seamlessly integrating high-end hospitality, commercial spaces, services, tourism, and social-technical infrastructure. Featuring 15 beachfront high-rise hotels with nearly 6,500 5-star rooms, the project also includes 40-story towers housing luxury hotels, shopping malls, and a seaside plaza, creating a concentrated hospitality hub.
A standout feature is its ecosystem of international brands and partners, many of which are making their debut in Vietnam. The project brings together global architectural leaders such as SOM, KPF, Aedas, and Milou, alongside renowned hotel management groups like Marriott International, Accor, Hilton, and Lotte.
Marriott International will introduce premium brands including W Hotels, known for its bold design and upscale lifestyle; Marriott Hotels, specializing in MICE and diplomatic events; Westin, focused on holistic wellness; Le Méridien, celebrating art and culture; and Courtyard by Marriott, offering flexible accommodations for conference delegates.

World-renowned hospitality brands will debut in Vietnam at Bai Dat Do, Phu Quoc.
Hilton Worldwide will feature Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton, and the pioneering Conrad Hotels & Resorts, catering to high-profile leaders, executives, and government officials. Accor will contribute SO, inspired by fashion; MGallery and Grand Mercure, blending international standards with local essence, to meet diverse APEC accommodation needs.
A highlight is the 136,000 m² shopping mall, one of Vietnam’s largest, operated by Lotte, establishing a premier entertainment and retail hub. These brands, associated with global landmarks and events, underscore the project’s ambition to set a new benchmark in world-class hospitality for Phu Quoc.

Sun Group will complete the Bai Dat Do Mixed-Use Urban Area within 18 months.
The commitment to deliver an unprecedented “hotel city” in just 18 months highlights Sun Group’s prowess, demonstrated through rapid yet internationally compliant projects like Van Don International Airport, the record-breaking Fansipan cable car, and large-scale tourism-infrastructure complexes nationwide. This track record instills confidence in meeting APEC 2027 deadlines while leaving a lasting tourism and infrastructure legacy for Phu Quoc.
Beyond event-specific infrastructure, the Bai Dat Do project reflects Sun Group’s long-term vision for Phu Quoc, aiming to create a sustainable ecosystem of high-end accommodations, conferencing facilities, and services. Not only addressing APEC 2027 needs, the project aspires to emulate Paris’ Champs-Élysées—a 300-year-old icon blending tourism, culture, politics, and global influence, positioning Phu Quoc as a world-class destination.
