The Spring Fair of the Year of the Horse in 2024 takes place from January 30th to February 7th, 2024 (from the 20th to the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month, Year of the Wood Rooster) at the Economic and Trade Exhibition Fair Area, 489 Hoang Quoc Viet, Hanoi. This is a Cultural – Commercial activity organized by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the occasion of Lunar New Year.
PROMOTING CONSUMER GOODS FOR TET
In his opening speech at the fair on January 30th, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien – Director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center, stated that in 2023, in the context of the entire economy facing many difficulties and challenges, especially in the export markets of agricultural and aquatic products, the agricultural sector still maintained a strong GDP growth rate with a growth rate of 3.83%, which is the highest growth rate in the past 10 years.
Regarding agricultural exports, although the total export value of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products throughout the year did not meet the set target, the trade surplus in 2023 reached 12.07 billion USD, an increase of 43.7%, accounting for over 42.5% of the country’s trade surplus. The country has 6 export items with a value of over 3 billion USD, including vegetables and fruits, rice, cashews, coffee, shrimp, and wood and wood products.
“The achievements made are due to the strong transformation of the agricultural sector and localities from the mindset of agricultural production to the mindset of agricultural economics,” Mr. Tien commented.
In the joyous atmosphere of the entire country welcoming the new year 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development instructed the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center to organize the 2024 Year of the Horse Fair.
“The fair is an important cultural and commercial activity that kicks off 2024 and is a place for businesses to promote their brands and products, contributing to the development of production and business, enhancing their reputation and competitiveness. The Spring Fair of the Year of the Horse is an ideal place for people in the Capital and neighboring provinces to shop for Tet”, Mr. Tien shared.
This year’s Spring Fair brings together over 100 booths and over 1000m2 of exhibition space from nearly 100 participating units, businesses, and production facilities, showcasing a wide range of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, fresh and processed food, flowers, ornamental plants, handicrafts, consumer goods, and agricultural production supplies.
The participating products at the Spring Fair are diverse, with many regional specialties, high-quality consumer goods with clear origins, ensuring food safety and hygiene, and reasonable prices to serve consumers in celebrating the traditional Lunar New Year.
BRINGING TOGETHER THE COLORS OF THE THREE REGIONS
Walking around the fair, witnessing the gathering of agricultural specialties from the three regions, all “side by side”. The booths here display, introduce, and sell products from over 20 provinces and cities nationwide, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dien Bien, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Yen Bai, Quang Ngai, Binh Thuan, Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Thua Thien Hue, Son La, Binh Dinh, Thanh Hoa, …
Many Northern special agricultural products are present, such as: forest mushrooms, bamboo shoots, wild mushrooms, mushrooms of the Northwest, Ha Long grilled squid, Cao Phong sen sticky rice, Banh Chung in Bo Dau, Thai Nguyen tea, ancient Shan snow tea, Gio cha Uoc Le, Moc Chau safe fruits and vegetables, black pigs in Hoa Binh, Banh gai, Vung Dai village braised fish, Dien Bien kitchen pot buffaloes, Cat Hai fish sauce, Ban Yen Soya sauce, traditional Bode incense…

The fair also showcases smoked meat, imported and various products from herbs, Ganoderma lucidum tea, ginseng wine, honey, pollen, royal jelly, turmeric starch, black garlic, ginseng, couch grass, cordyceps, red apples, essential oils, handicrafts of lacquerware, buffalo horn, silk, woven bamboo, wood art, and household items.
According to the organizers, to ensure the rights and health of consumers, the organizers have tightened the management of inputs and require the products participating in the exhibition to have clear origins, reputation, meet food safety standards, meet VietGap and Global Gap standards; products participating in the safe agricultural product supply chain; certified organic and organically grown, and meet the OCOP certification of local products.
Especially, with an exhibition area of 1000 m2, open from January 25, 2023, it is a place to introduce various types of flowers and ornamental plants, bringing bright colors and the spring season to everyone’s homes and lives, such as yellow Mai, white Mai in Binh Dinh, orchids: Dalat Phat Son orchid, forest orchid, Dendro Sungold orchid, orchid lychnis, lily, hyacinth lily … to serve the demand for Tet flowers and ornamental plants of the people in the Capital and neighboring provinces.
