“Run command” online

During the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, Giap Thin 2024, on the routes: Nguyen Tri Phuong – Hoang Dieu – Le Thanh Tong; QL5 – Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Binh Khiem; World Bank… heading towards the ports at Hai Phong, there is a bustling movement of vehicles, transporting containers of goods to storage warehouses.

Outside of peak hours in the morning and late afternoon, at various times during the day, these routes frequently experience congestion, making it difficult for vehicles to move.

At the Customs Offices in Chua Ve, Dinh Vu… there are not many officers “running the command” (processing customs procedures) like in previous years because the paperwork has been reformed and updated on the online system.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Ba (34 years old), an employee of Dolphin Sea Air, shares that his company specializes in logistics and exporting-importing raw materials. He shares that this year, he has less hassle because he has to “run the command” fewer times compared to previous years.

According to Mr. Ba, the peak season for “running the command” this year lasted from May to November. On average, every day, he completes about 30 sets of import-export customs clearance documents. During the Lunar New Year, the beginning of 2024, the number of documents that requires clearance has significantly decreased by about 15-25% for his company, thus there is not much pressure.

The reason is that enterprises have imported raw materials for production several months in advance to ensure uninterrupted production before, during, and after Tet (Lunar New Year festival). In the early days of the year, the proportion of customs clearance documents for agricultural products, fresh food, and household items is higher than the previous months due to the end of the production season and the demand for consumption and living during the Tet holidays.

Mr. Le Khanh (35 years old), an employee of a logistics company, said that in previous years, in order to complete customs clearance procedures, they had to go to the one-stop department at the Customs Offices, which was time-consuming and not very productive, and sometimes even led to negative experiences and disturbances.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, customs clearance procedures have been drastically reformed with all import-export documents being fully updated and transparently displayed on the online system. Therefore, “running the command” employees mostly work online on computers and phones. Only when there are issues with the documents, will they go to the one-stop department to supplement and complete them. Mr. Khanh believes that digital transformation has helped businesses save time and human resources, and has increased productivity for “running the command” employees like him.
