After a period of focusing on developing mainstream models, many car manufacturers have started to venture into smaller markets, notably electric pickup trucks. Most recently, registrations in Australia for two Hyundai models using two new electric truck models have been revealed.

Specifically, documents submitted on December 27, 2023, include new names for Hyundai’s IONIQ electric lineup, namely the IONIQ T7 and IONIQ T10.

Observers predict that the T10 will be reserved for the largest electric pickup truck in Hyundai’s IONIQ lineup, possibly even larger than the 3-row SUV IONIQ 7, which is in the same segment as the VinFast VF 9 or the “brother” KIA EV9.

Information about the IONIQ T7 and IONIQ T10 was found by the Australian publication Drive; however, it is highly likely that Australia will not be the only market to have these two models. Currently, more detailed information about the IONIQ T7 and IONIQ T10 has not been announced, and it is also unclear whether the largest model will be a full-size electric pickup truck like the Ford F-150 or a mid-size pickup truck like the Ford Ranger and the VinFast VF Wild.

The IONIQ T7 seems to be intended for a smaller electric pickup truck than the IONIQ T10, but it is also unclear whether it will be for a mid-size or urban pickup truck like the Hyundai Santa Cruz and the Ford Maverick.

Some predictions suggest that these two electric pickup truck models will also have distinctive and impressive designs as seen on the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 models. Not only in terms of design, these electric models may also share many components and parts to reduce costs.

It is highly likely that Hyundai’s new electric pickup trucks will have the option of dual motors for all-wheel drive configuration, or a single motor for rear-wheel drive configuration.

Previously, there have been rumors that Hyundai may introduce a new model in 2025 or 2026. Meanwhile, KIA is developing the diesel-powered Tasman pickup truck, which will soon become an all-electric version. It is unclear whether the KIA Tasman is related to the Hyundai IONIQ T7 or IONIQ T10 or not.
