Over 100,000 international visitors flock to Hanoi during Tet holiday

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, during the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 (from February 8-14), Hanoi is expected to welcome 653 thousand visitors, marking a 21.6% increase compared to the same period last year. In particular, international tourists continue to show strong growth, with nearly 103 thousand visitors, doubling the figures from the previous year.

The main customer markets are: South Korea, China, the United States, India, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan… The total revenue from tourists reached 2,350 billion VND, an increase of 35.1%.

Many popular attractions attracted a large number of visitors such as: Huong Son heritage and scenic area received 80.6 thousand visitors; Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam historical site received over 106 thousand visitors; Hoang Thanh Thang Long historical site received over 48.7 thousand visitors; Co Loa historical site received 25 thousand visitors; Tay Phuong Pagoda received over 32 thousand visitors; Hoa Lo Prison historical site received 13 thousand visitors; Hanoi Zoo received over 31 thousand visitors; Ba Vi National Park received over 10 thousand visitors…

The organization of welcoming tourists to the capital during the Lunar New Year holiday was ensured with security and safety, with many vibrant and attractive activities that attracted tourists to visit and experience. Units, businesses, organizations, and individuals in the tourism sector actively researched and improved the quality of tourism products and services, built new products that meet the needs and tastes of tourists; at the same time, they strengthened epidemic prevention and control measures, ensuring security, order, and safety for tourists. Many activities and events took place before and during the Lunar New Year so that tourists visiting the capital could immerse themselves in the traditional Tet atmosphere.

Dang Huong Giang, Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism, said that the Department has conducted inspections of compliance with legal regulations in the tourism sector during the Lunar New Year of Quy Ty on the city’s territory. The inspection team conducted inspections at crowded tourist destinations such as Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, Hoang Thanh Thang Long, the area around Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake… The inspections showed that the organizing and managing agencies at the tourist destinations paid attention to enhancing infrastructure, organizing reception for tourists, ensuring security, order, traffic safety, and environmental sanitation.
