On February 15, the Ministry of Public Security organized an online conference to evaluate the situation and results of ensuring security and order during the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday and to deploy key tasks after the holiday.

At the conference, Major General Dang Hong Duc, Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, reported that the police units at all levels had deployed forces and means to ensure absolute security and safety for the visits and New Year greetings of Party and State leaders. During the holiday, the police units at all levels initiated 507 cases, with 820 suspects arrested and 358 cases resolved. They also dealt with traffic congestion, accidents, and strictly enforced regulations regarding alcohol, drugs, and speeding. Additionally, 657 cases were apprehended involving 697 suspects engaged in illegal production, trading, transportation, storage, and use of explosives.
Minister To Lam recognized and praised the efforts and outstanding achievements of the officers and soldiers of the People’s Police during the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday.
Directing some key tasks for the near future, Minister To Lam requested the police units at all levels to build on the achieved results and continue implementing the directives of the Central Party, the Government, the Ministry, and other tasks, with a focus on implementing the Prime Minister’s directive on ensuring the implementation of post-Lunar New Year tasks in the Year of the Horse.
Among these tasks is accelerating the progress of investigating socially sensitive cases and cases under the surveillance and direction of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and the effective suppression of crimes and law violations, especially those that are active after the holiday such as gambling, usury, drug-related crimes, theft, etc. Furthermore, the entire police force should promptly implement the tasks outlined in Project 06, the Ministry of Public Security’s 2024 Digital Transformation Plan, and ensure order and safety in traffic and proactively implement firefighting and rescue plans at festival sites, temples, and crowded places…
