According to the report from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, during the 7 days of the Lunar New Year holiday 2024 (from the 29th of the twelfth lunar month to the 5th of the first lunar month), the whole province welcomed 635,000 visitors, an increase of 48.7% compared to the same period during the Lunar New Year holiday 2023, with tourism revenue of around 588 billion VND.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, cultural, sports, and tourism activities in various localities across Thanh Hoa province were vibrant, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists. Especially, many international tourist groups chose some beach resorts and community ecotourism sites to celebrate New Year’s Eve and experience traditional Tet culture. Localities with cultural tourism highlights recorded a significant increase in the number of visitors, contributing to the growth of tourism revenue.
For example, some localities that attracted a large number of visitors were: Thanh Hoa city welcoming about 100,000 visitors; Lam Kinh Historical Monument area (Tho Xuan) welcoming about 40,000 visitors; Cua Dat Historical Monument and Landscape area (Thuong Xuan) welcoming about 90,000 visitors; Phu Na Historical Monument and Landscape area (Nhu Thanh) welcoming about 91,000 visitors; Sam Son city welcoming about 65,000 visitors; Den Song (Bim Son town) welcoming about 40,000 visitors; Pu Luong Community Ecotourism area (Ba Thuoc) welcoming about 4,000 visitors; Ho Citadel World Heritage Site (Vinh Loc) welcoming about 4,500 visitors…
According to some tour operators in the province, the number of tourists booking tours and tourism services to Thanh Hoa is increasing significantly until the end of January. Therefore, the tourism areas and sites in the province, especially cultural tourism highlights, need to continue to effectively implement the conditions for receiving and serving visitors, improve service quality, and contribute to building the image of “Thanh Hoa Tourism – A Safe and Attractive Destination.”
In 2023, the total number of tourists visiting the province reached nearly 12.5 million visitors, an increase of 13.1% compared to 2022, achieving 104% of the 2023 plan. Among them, the province welcomed 616,200 international tourists, an increase of 2.5 times compared to 2022, reaching 100.2% of the 2023 plan.
In 2024, the province targets to welcome 13.8 million visitors, with a total estimated revenue of 32,387 billion VND. This is a significant number in the current context, especially when domestic tourism will still face challenges in the global tourism landscape. However, the tourism industry in Thanh Hoa can fully expect the efforts of each locality and enterprise, especially the emergence of new large-scale investors in Thanh Hoa with high-end projects that will be put into operation in 2024, contributing to creating a strong breakthrough for Thanh Hoa.
