The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province has recently sent a document to the Prime Minister regarding the use of land from the Long Thanh International Airport (LTIA) Project for the construction of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway.
According to Dong Nai Province, the local authorities have basically completed the clearance and handover of the 5,000-hectare area for the construction of the Long Thanh Airport, including 2,532 hectares for the Phase 1 of the LTIA project (1,810 hectares for the airport construction and 722 hectares for land reserve) to the Southern Airports Authority and other investors for the construction of relevant works.
The Phase 2 area of Long Thanh Airport (over 2,414 hectares) has been reclaimed but has not yet had an approved investment project. It is currently under the management of Dong Nai Province’s People’s Committee, including a planned area for Terminal 3 of the Long Thanh Airport, covering approximately 187 hectares.
Meanwhile, in Dong Nai Province, the construction of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway (Component 1 and 2) is also being implemented and facing difficulties in sourcing land for the embankment. Currently, more than 5 million cubic meters of embankment material is needed for the construction of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway section through Dong Nai Province. The provincial People’s Committee and Project Management Board 85 have planned several locations for extraction and supply, but the transportation distance and soil quality at these locations do not meet the standards for building a highway.
The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province requests the Prime Minister to consider approving the proposal to reclaim embankment materials in a part of the 187-hectare area planned for Terminal 3 of the Long Thanh Airport (Phase 2), to provide land for the construction of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway.
