Brigade 12 has launched a competitive campaign, determined to complete 90% of the construction volume for the Bung-Van Ninh expressway and 80% for the Van Ninh-Cam Lo expressway.

’65 Days and Nights, Determined to Win’

The 12th Army recently launched a high-efficiency competition called “65 Days and Nights, Determined to Win” at key projects in Quang Binh province.

The executive board and construction units expressed their high determination, made efforts to overcome difficulties, competed in production on the construction site, and accelerated the progress to ensure the completion of the contracts XL02 section Bung – Van Ninh and XL01 section Van Ninh – Cam Lo, belonging to the project of constructing the Bac – Nam East Highway phase 2021 – 2025, as committed. The competition period is from March 5th to May 10th.

Major General Nguyen Huu Ngoc, Commander of the 12th Army, stated that although there are still many difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process, the Bung – Van Ninh section has achieved nearly 40% of the contract value and has made rapid progress among the contracts of the Bac Nam expressway phase 2; The Van Ninh – Cam Lo contract also basically meets the progress requirements of the investor.

In 2024, the 12th Army aims to complete 90% of the construction volume for the Bung – Van Ninh section and 80% for the Van Ninh – Cam Lo section. Therefore, the “65 Days and Nights, Determined to Win” campaign promises to accelerate the project progress to the maximum extent, helping the project to be completed ahead of schedule.

Bung – Van Ninh Expressway Project

The Bung – Van Ninh Expressway is part of the Bac – Nam East Highway system passing through Quang Binh province.

The total length of the route is 48.84 km. The starting point is connected to the Vung Ang – Bung highway at Cư Nẫm commune, Bố Trạch district, Quang Binh province, and the end point is in Van Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province, connecting with the current Van Ninh – Cam Lo expressway under construction.

The project has a cross-sectional profile to meet the 4-lane expressway standard without emergency stopping lanes, arranging some emergency stopping points at intervals of 4 – 5km/1 point, with a road width of 17m and a design speed of 80 – 90 km/h. In the complete phase, the road will have 6 lanes, 2 emergency stopping lanes, and a design speed of 100 km/h.

The total investment of the route is 9,361 billion VND. It was commenced on January 1, 2023. Along with the Vung Ang – Bung highway project, the Bung – Van Ninh highway must be basically completed in 2025 and put into operation in early 2026.

According to the report of Project Management Board 6 (investor) and contractors, consultants, by the end of January, the length of the sections that Quang Binh has handed over to the management boards, including the Vung Ang – Bung and Bung – Van Ninh sections, is 113 km/126.4 km (about 90%).

Truong Son Construction Corporation has started asphalt concrete construction at the Van Ninh – Bung project since late January. As of January 16, 2024, the value of the accomplished output of the unit reached over 398 billion VND, equivalent to more than 30% of the contracted work value. The goal in 2024 is to increase the construction output to 75% of the contract value.

Van Ninh – Cam Lo Expressway Project

The Van Ninh – Cam Lo Expressway is part of the Bac – Nam East Highway project phase 2021 – 2025, with a total length of 65.7 km. In which, the section through Quang Tri province has a length of 32.53 km, passing through districts: Vinh Linh 14.25 km, Gio Linh 11.9 km, Cam Lo 6.38 km.

The project was commenced on January 1, 2023, and is expected to be completed in October 2025. The main construction volumes of the project include: road section, interchange, and bridge section.

According to the report of the People’s Committee of Quang Tri province, as of March 1, 2024, the locality still has 4.25/32.53 km yet to be cleared and compensated by GPMB. Among them, Cam Lo district still has 0.26 km pending, Gio Linh district has 2.34 km, and Vinh Linh district has 1.65 km. Therefore, the total area compensated and cleared is 28.28/32.53 km, but in reality, only 24.69/32.53 km have been handed over to the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh Road, reaching 75.90%.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board, after more than 1 year of implementation, the Van Ninh – Cam Lo expressway project in Quang Tri province has about 15 km of completed road foundation, nearly 14 km of completed piling and road surface, including more than 10 km of asphalt concrete finishing by contractors, many bridges on the route have also been completed and installed.

The achieved key quantities include 35.4% of completed road foundation, 33.16% of completed piling and road surface, and 23 out of 29 bridges are under construction.

According to the information from the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board, up to now, the accumulated output is 1,230.78 billion/5,621.45 billion VND, accounting for 21.89% of the contract value, a positive deviation of +2.5% compared to the project progress.

In the context of Quang Binh fully converging factors, potential, and focusing on developing tourism, which has become a spearhead economic sector, investing in the construction of Bac – Nam East Highway routes passing through the province is even more important to make breakthroughs and promote the development of synchronous and modern transportation infrastructure; the economic and social development of the province.

The above-mentioned two expressway projects will connect economic and political centers, key economic zones, and industrial zones, especially important economic regions. They will gradually complete the synchronized modern infrastructure system with state-of-the-art works.
