Thua Thien Hue Province in Vietnam is set to undergo a transformational journey, as unveiled in its Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

The plan, announced by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at a 4 April conference in the province, emphasizes the development of three economic corridors, significant infrastructure projects, and improvements in healthcare services.

The three key economic corridors are the North-South Economic Corridor, the East-West Economic Corridor, and the Urban Economic Corridor toward the sea. These corridors are expected to drive economic growth and connectivity within the region, positioning Thua Thien Hue as a central hub for trade and development.

Under the plan, Thua Thien Hue aims to evolve into a centrally run city by 2025 and a prominent heritage urban area of Vietnam by 2030. By 2050, the province envisions itself as a cultural, tourism, and technological center in Southeast Asia, boasting sustainable and adaptable characteristics.

Prime Minister Chinh stressed the importance of strategic planning in fostering long-term growth and development. He highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to realize Thua Thien Hue’s development vision, emphasizing key areas such as infrastructure development, economic diversification, and human resource enhancement.

Significant infrastructure projects are already underway, with Prime Minister Chinh attending the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies of several key initiatives.

These include the construction of berths 4 and 5 at Chan May port, a vital gateway connecting Central Vietnam with regional and international markets. The new wharves are expected to enhance trade efficiency and stimulate economic activities in the region.

In addition, the inauguration of a state-of-the-art household waste treatment plant underscores Thua Thien Hue’s commitment to environmental sustainability. With a capacity to process 600 tons of waste per day, the plant will play a crucial role in managing solid waste and promoting green energy production.

The province is also investing in critical infrastructure projects such as the construction of Nguyen Hoang Street and a new bridge across the Huong River. These initiatives aim to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance socio-economic development in the region.

Furthermore, Thua Thien Hue is prioritizing advancements in healthcare infrastructure, with plans to develop Hue Central Hospital into an international-standard medical facility. The expansion project, with an investment of nearly $16 million and about 300 beds meeting international standards, will enhance healthcare services and contribute to improving public health outcomes.
