Potential Risks of Increased Imports of Hot-Rolled Steel

Official Letter No. 2684/VPCP-TH dated April 23, 2024, states: The Government Office has Report No. 1309/BC-VPCP dated April 14, 2024, which summarizes the article on a significant increase in the import volume of Hot-rolled Coil (HRC) to over 9.6 million tons, mainly from China and India, published in the Economic and Urban Newspaper on April 9, 2024.

In this regard, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take the lead and coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to review and assess the recent surge in HRC imports and take timely and effective measures within their authority and in accordance with legal regulations to protect the legitimate interests of domestic production in line with international practices and a fair competitive environment.
