On April 28, information from the Long Thanh International Airport Project Management Board stated that the Long Thanh International Airport Project construction still maintained construction throughout the April 30-May 1 holiday.

According to the forecast, in about a month, Dong Nai will enter the rainy season. Therefore, in the remaining time of the dry season, contractors are focusing on accelerating progress.

Mr. Duong Quang Dien – Deputy Permanent Director of the Project Management Board – said: “Currently, the construction progress of the bid packages is very good. During the holiday, the contractors coordinated with the Project Management Board to arrange the appropriate construction frequency. On the occasion of the April 30-May 1 holiday this year, engineers and workers still stayed, working on the construction site…”.

Long Thanh Airport Passenger Terminal has completed the underground and embankment.

Accordingly, the contractors have mobilized nearly 5,000 cadres, engineers, and workers along with thousands of equipment and machinery to construct the project’s bid packages. On the construction site, workers and engineers still work in 3 shifts and 4 teams, spread across many items such as the passenger terminal, connecting roads, runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking aprons.

The passenger terminal project has completed the underground part, backfill, foundation, and spread the bedding sand according to the design documents. In addition, this item has also closed the tunnel cover, completed 100% of the 1st floor pillars, and is currently implementing the installation of formwork, steel, and concrete floor for the 1st floor.

At the construction site of the connecting road T1, T2, engineers, and workers are focusing on constructing bridge piers, producing super T-beams, mixing crushed stone, and making a civil underpass. For this item, the contractors have mobilized 630 personnel and 196 machines to work throughout the holiday.

According to the plan, the project will complete the installation of super T-beams before October 2024 and complete the pavement, lighting, and handrails before July 2025.

In the component project 2 (air traffic management works), Mr. Hoang Le Huy – representing the Long Thanh Project Management Board, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation – said that during the holiday this year, 150 workers and engineers were mobilized to work on the construction site. According to Mr. Huy, the project’s progress is being ensured, some items are ahead of schedule. The items such as air traffic control tower, technical building, radar station… have taken shape. In which, some items are about to complete the shell.

At the Air Traffic Control Station construction site, the contractor has completed the reinforced concrete shell up to the floor beam of the 10th floor. To date, the height of the air traffic control tower has reached an elevation of approximately 70 m. The progress is 30 days ahead of schedule to make up for the upcoming rainy season. It is expected that by November, the air traffic control tower’s reinforced concrete will reach a height of nearly 108 m and the tower will be completed by June 30, 2025.

The Air Traffic Control Station and auxiliary works have an area of 24,000 m2, built to control the operation of aircraft at Long Thanh Airport and in the airspace. The station is designed in the shape of a lotus with colors and architecture that are in harmony with the passenger terminal. The 123 m high control tower with radar on top has a construction area of about 80 m2 and a tower body diameter of 10 m.
